While working on our native app and mobile web navigation, my team was tasked with consolidating a navigation scheme while maintaining and tracking a phased approach across multiple years of releases that would combine several substantial features, like auto, credit card, mortgage, etc. Here is some of my communication and design documentation from that project...
Navigation Wireframes, Phased Approach
This documentation started off fairly simple in the attempt to keep our ideas, notes, questions and answers in one place the team and business could track.
For every decision there were 4 phases that had to be handled slightly differently with varying degrees of complexity.
Along with navigation concerns, we also had to update and add features throughout the project.
Navigation iteration wireframes & Data visualization concepts
The top row shows how the document grew through various iterations during business feedback sessions.
The executive group appreciated seeing the phased approach laid out in this fashion, as it simplified a fairly complex set of rules that changed over time.
On the bottom row are a few ideas that went into data visualization changes that came along with added features.
Wireframes, Executive and Development communication & Cross Platform Visual Design
Here is one of the final documents used to communicate with the executive group and development.
Included in the document is visual design for cross platform execution; iOS iPhone & iPad, Android and Windows.
Another valuable feature of this documentation is found in the notes section where the team and stakeholders could find reasoning for changes backed up with dates and responsible parties.
I have found that good communication documentation can be just as important and rewarding as the final product.
